This weekend I had the pleasure of taking out Dick and his son Daniel for some light tackle fun and it was a blast to say the least. The first day was quite windy and we had to fish jigs; they produced well but the wind would not lay down and we hit the barn early to save some energy for the next day. Got a decent early start the next morning despite the negative tides. This paid off as we caught lots of bass and a few bluefish. Most of the action was on top with explosive takes, what a great morning. Then we opted to go chase tuna and this was a good choice as the fish were all over the place, smashing sea herring. Daniel had multiple shots right in the feeding frenzy with plenty of swings and misses and the captain had a couple of run offs but could not keep one stuck. The fish are very aggressive and are looking like they are going to be 65 to 75 inch range this year so it will be a very serious game. They are bruisers and need to be fished that way, so gear up.
